Below you will find some local information about Sandy, OR, Mt Hood, Boring and adjacent areas.
Sandy Oregon is located on HWY 26 and is your last major stop on the way to Mt Hood as you head East from Gresham. The population of Sandy is around 8,000. To the west is Boring Oregon and to the South is Estacada and Eagle Creek. On your way up HWY 26 towards Timberline you will find the communities of Brightwood, Welches, Rhododendron and Zig Zag.
Just East of Sandy you will find Calamity Jane's on the north side of HWY 26. This is a great place for hamburger lovers to stop with every kind of burger imaginable and a neat old west atmosphere.
On the right side near Brightwood going up the Mt Hood Hwy you will find Wildwood Park. This is a fun place for hiking, walking Fido and there are some beautiful BBQ picnic areas for making it a day of fun. Parking fee is $5 at Wildwood Park.
Zig Zag Falls
After you pass metropolitan Zig Zag on HWY 26 beyond Welches and Brightwood, look for Road 39 on your left hand side. Sneeze and you will miss it. One of Mt Hood's best kept secrets, Zig Zag falls will be found at the end of Road 39 about a mile or so up. It is a relatively short, fairly easy hike up to a bench where you can sit and watch the falls. You will need a Northwest Parking Pass to park at the base of the trail (you can buy one at Fred Meyer in Sandy).
Another place you can use your Northwest Parking Pass is at Trillium lake just beyond the road to Timberline. There is a two mile level walking path that goes around the lake and at certain times you can see the reflection of Mt Hood in the lake. Bring your camera!! You will find plenty of BBQ areas and fishing spots at Trillium. Paddle boats are ok but no motorized boats are allowed.
The areas of Boring, OR, Eagle Creek and Estacada also have plenty of trails and are a nice place to take a drive and explore on a Spring or Summer day.
Thanks again for visiting the Discovery Auto Glass web page for Sandy, Mt Hood and Boring. We look forward to helping you with any of your mobile windshield replacement or windshield repair needs for your car, truck, semi, RV or boat. Emergency auto glass service is available 7 days a week
